Until recently all of the photos posted here have been taken with my Samsung L200 digital camera. It was a fine camera for nice quick and easy shots, but the more photos I took, the more frustrated I got with it’s limitations. It is a 10megapixel camera, so it takes good quality pictures, but with limited zoom (3x) and not the greatest at preserving colours it showed it’s limitations.
So finally, the other day (August 18, 2009) I had an opportunity to upgrade my picture taking capabilities. I purchased a Fuji Finepix S2000HD 10megapixel digital camera. It’s nowhere near the top of the line in cameras, but it’s quite a step up from the Samsung.
The first difference that was a real drawing card for me was the increased zoom capacity – up to 15x optical zoom. THis will greatly increase my picture taking options. I am still learning what all it can do, but I already like the way it handles colours (what I see with my eye vs. what end up in the photo), the view finder so it’s easier to take photos in bright light to mention just a few things.
Hopefully this will soon be reflected in the photos I am taking. It’s not as portable as the Samsung, so I’ll have to figure out a way to easily and safely take it with me on my bike rides, but I’m sure it will be worth it (at least from a personal satisfaction point of view).
